Recertification Timeline
Before You Register
Reread your manual and practice coding a few live classrooms. You may also want to double code with other reliable coders.
After You Register
Log in to your CLASS™ account and go to Recertification. Take a couple days to read about the recertification process and view exemplars in the Video Library.
Week 1
View and code Practice Video 1. Review the automated feedback and master code justifications. Read “Understanding Your Coding Tendencies” and “Coding FAQs.” Review areas of difficulty by studying relevant sections of the CLASS™ manual and Video Library.
Week 2
Take the first recertification test. We recommend that you watch and code only one or two videos per day to avoid coder fatigue.
If you passed the first test, congratulations! If not, don’t worry; you still have two more attempts. Review your automated feedback and view and code Practice Video 2. Compare your codes to the master code justifications and review the CLASS™ manual.

Week 3
If you did not pass the first test, take the second recertification test. Again, pace yourself and make sure you can test in a location that is free from interruptions. Remember to take detailed notes and refer to your manual often.
If you didn’t pass the second test, give your brain a much-deserved break for a day or two. Many CLASS™ observers reach this point and achieve success on the third test. Review your CLASS™ materials and the supports on the Recertification page.

Week 4
If you did not pass the second test, take the third and final recertification test. First review the automated feedback from your first two tests and your CLASS™ manual. If you don’t pass the third test, you may enroll in another CLASS™ Observation Training and attempt reliability again.
